in General

If you are looking for an old Kirk crewmate I/we can help. Post here who you are looking for. Then send me a personal email with as much information on the crewmember as you know. Hometown, wife and kids names, any known address’s or phone numbers, etc etc. All this helps me on the hunt.

Greetings Jim,

I was really looking to contact a great friend of mine from the ship named Daniel Sullivan. Served onboard 1982-1984 (at which time I went home on leave from Yokosuka and had a motorcycle accident that resulted in my medical discharge). Dan and I were training for special forces and I heard that he made the SEAL team. That is the last info I have on him. He was from Glens Falls, NY and would love to re-establish contact. Thanks in advance for any info you are able to obtain.

I was aboard the Kirk from 1979-1981. I remember a few of the guys there and still have my cruise book. I would especially like to find MMC Lee Webb. He may have acquired Senior or Master. Also, David Weeks from Scituate Mass. He was an HT.

Wes,

Last I saw of Danny Waller was in San Francisco in 83. Would be interesting to see what has become of the old M Div & A Gang crew.

Former crewmember 1975 yearbook has my middle initial as a C. Live in Indianapolis IN have since I was discharged in 77 never married no kids. Been a member of another ship assoc USS Ozbourn (846) never till now realizing Kirk may have one also. Clicked on link to the movie for Frequent wind never knew about it either, any way to get a copy of it? Very few people or vets understand what that day was like for us or the trip to P.I. afterwards.

Frank, thanks a heap for the input but I need facts. Need names, dates, family, home, any detail that will help me find folks. I can’t just do blanket searches without leads.

I do headhunting, not miracles. Wish I could.

Looking for Robert Vergara, we were on the Kirk together in 1991. He’s from Austin, TX. That’s all I really know about his life outside the Navy. I haven’t seen nor heard from him since I got out in November 1991. He was a DC man. possibly a non rate fireman.

Bon September 20, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Got it Phil, I am have created a wanted poster for him on my board. Will let you know. Please consider joining the Kirk Association. If you wish to do that let me know and I will get you on our mailing list for newsletters etc.

Hi,

I saw a post on your website in reference to Mr. Pollard. He was my MPA on the USS Kirk when I was stationed on board her from 1977-1979. He probably won’t remember me but I certainly remember him.

If he does remember me I’m sure he won’t have fond memories of me. We spent some time at Captain’s Mast in Australia. I was on the receiving end… But that was a long time ago… And I have no doubt that he would be absolutely flabbergasted to know that I retired from the Navy as CPO!

If he has trouble remembering me just ask him if he remembers the “Fuzzy Duck” incident. We were having duck in the enlisted facilities while underway and he wanted us to bring him so duck. So we did… We all added some extra ingredients to his duck. He didn’t think it was to funny at the time but I bet he’s laughing about it now.

I’m also interested in contacting anyone else who was stationed aboard the Kirk during the aforementioned time frame.

Michael Mulvihill STG2 1980-84 February 12, 2012 at 8:20 am

Hey Jim,
Doing a great job on this site! I’m trying to locate Michael S.Cummings. We served in the Sonar Gang from 1981-84 and both made STG2 together in ’84. I then went EAOS and he re-uped. I believe he may have went to Rota, Spain to be a brig rat chaser. He always told us he was from the south side of Chicago, but actually was from Hammond,IN. Any help appreciated.
